Family Recipe Connection evoled from wanting a cook book to hand down to my children Robbie and Randi that contained all of our family favorite recipes as a way for my them to always have their family favorite recipes.

First I thought of creating a small custom cookbook as a Christmas present, and having it printed into an actual cookbook. That created a number of problems. I needed to decide how many recipes would go in the book. Then what recipes to choose. Wanting this to be a gift I was also wanting it to be a surprise, so what if I missed a favorite recipe one of my kids thought should be in the book. Then I thought well I really should have a photo of each recipe if I am actually going to make a book. All this brainstorming was going on and Christmas was quickly aproching. I just didn't have the time to get this complete in time. The cookbook was put on hold, figuring during the next year I would have time to cook the recipes I want in the cookbook and be able to take pictures.

Fall approached again and I was still trouble by what recipes would make the final cut. What if more special recipes should be in the family favorites cookbook.

I was at potluck that my Mom had made her pineapple zucchini bread. Everyone was raving about it and asking who made it. One person said they would love the recipe. I stated that is was my Mom's recipe I am sure she would share it with. That person said oh she will just look it up on the internet. Another person said, what are you going to search for Pam's Mom's zucchini bread. We all laughed.

The magic answer

That was it, I knew right then what I was going to do. I was going to make a website with all our family favorite recipes. It could be an on going growing project. It will be so easy to find, use and share the recipes. I was so excited this was the magic answer for the family favorites cookbook.

Randi had the same level of excitement about the website. She also had ideas of the website becoming a blog and having social media and videos and more.

So here we go familyrecipeconnection.com founded in the Fall of 2017 by Nici and Randi Lawson for the use and sharing our family favorie recipes.

    I designed and hand-coded this responsive website with HTML, CSS and JavaScript/jQuery using Bootstrap framework. Making sure all the proper microdata is add in so the search engines better understand our recipe content.

    I prefer baking over cooking meals. I love to make treats to give to people. I love to make meals for family events. I choose to follow a plant-based diet, I have adapted many of these recipes to be plant-based friendly as you will see in the notes of the recipes.
